The Vice President, Global Medical Affairs' primary responsibility is to establish ObsEva as a scientific leader in Reproductive Health Therapeutics acting as a bridge between the R&D and commercial organization. This includes leading & executing the KOL management activities, publication & congress strategy, Investigator Initiated Trial (IIT) support, and effective data dissemination.

In order to achieve this, the incumbent shall work cross-functionally with internal departments (clinical, regulatory, market access & commercial) and external resources (agencies, KOLs, patient groups).

This position requires strategic vision as well as strong operational skills.


KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop the global medical affairs plan across the product portfolio and lead the execution of all medical affairs activities;
  • Identify, select and then establish, develop and foster relationships with thought leaders, high-volume OB/GYNs and clinical investigators. Initiate and run medical education programs with support from these thought leaders and influencers;
  • Participate in/deliver presentations to clinical investigators, OB/GYNs, fertility experts;
  • Develop the publication plan across the portfolio – abstracts for congresses, manuscripts – to establish ObsEva as a thought leader in women’s health and ensure effective dissemination of these data;
  • Develop the investigator-initiated trial plan by defining open research questions & sharing them with customers, prioritizing proposals, and implement selected IITs;
  • Enhance study recruitment by calling on investigators, complementing visits by Clin Ops & CROs, and leveraging medical science angle;
  • Establish, develop and foster relationships with patient advocacy associations, relevant pricing & reimbursement authorities, managed care decision makers/payers, allied healthcare professionals;
  • Establish, develop and foster relationships with conference organizers, educators, CME providers;
  • Establish, develop and foster relationships with influencers, e.g. OB/GYNs, science journalists, bloggers;
  • Identify clinical data gaps based on feedback from physicians, investigators and payers, assess risks & opportunities of these, and propose refinements/changes to the clinical development plan;
  • Develop & execute the congress strategy – prioritize congresses, define congress presence & objectives in partnership with commercial, and execute (symposia, KOL interactions, competitor tracking);
  • Track competitor clinical and scientific activities at conferences, through field visits and in the public domain (publications, internet);
  • Keep internal organization abreast of latest scientific developments by sharing relevant scientific publications – disease, product, competition – with the broader organization on a regular basis;
  • Support IR, Q&A for science journalists and investors/analysts meetings, participate in presentations to financial community;
  • Manage communication and coordinate activities with IR/CFO, PR/Media agencies, Clinical Science;
  • Supervise the organisation and management of thought leaders data file and Competitive Intelligence database;
  • Prepare, on a regular basis, updates on Medical Affairs activities progress and outcomes with thought leaders for the Company Management and appropriate Boards or Committees.


 PROFESSIONAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 10-15 years’ experience in Medical Affairs both at affiliate & regional/global level at a (bio)pharmaceutical company, ideally in Women’s Health (fertility clinic experience is a plus)
  • Relevant and robust personal network within Women’s Reproductive Health in Eu and US
  • Track record for best-in-class medical affairs strategic thinking, as well as operational/hands on experience – MSL/RML leadership, publication strategy & effective data dissemination, congress strategy including CME, successful IITs
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to establish, develop and foster relationships with all internal stakeholders – clinical/regulatory, market access, commercial, affiliates
  • Competent knowledge of applicable Healthcare and Regulatory Guidelines and Policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), conventions, tools, templates and instructions, including but not limited to PhRMA, OIG, ACCME/ACPE, HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, Sunshine Act, Commercial Speech, other applicable local regulations relating to Medical Affairs activities, and internal legal and regulatory company guidelines
  • Excellent computer skills

 EDUCATION/LANGUAGES

  • MD; OB/GYN experience is a plus
  • Complete fluency in English is a must
